CK-12 Foundation's Basic Algebra, Volume 1 Of 2 FlexBook covers the following six chapters:Expressions, Equations, and Functions - covers the relationships among expressions, equations, and functions when variables are present. Also explored is how these ideas can be shown on graphs. Properties of Real Numbers - covers various forms that rational numbers can assume, including fractions, integers, and square roots. Also considered are different operations for manipulating rational numbers. Linear Equations - introduces students to methods of solving simple equations involving variables. Also covered are ratios, scale, and the percent equation. Graphing Linear Equations and Functions - provides students with a more in-depth understanding of equations by introducing coordinate plane graphing concepts such as intercepts and slope. Writing Linear Equations - focuses on writing various forms of equations based upon real-world data and already existing lines. Students will also learn about predicting data using a fitted line. Linear Inequalities and Absolute Value; An Introduction to Probability - covers operations of inequalities, including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. These principles are then applied to absolute value and probability.
"MathX is a mathematical game where the player is given 4 single digit numbers (0-9). The player must apply the basic operators (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division) to each of these numbers, using all the numbers once only, to get to the answer 24."

"With Time Warner Cable support, Common Sense Media is making their new Digital Passport mobile app for Android and iOS operating systems available for free to the public through August 31, 2013. Designed for kids ages 8-12, the Digital Passport app features engaging games and videos to teach children the basics of being safe and responsible in the digital world. Get smart, stay safe and navigate responsibly this summer!"
"Technology has inevitably been inserted to nearly all aspects of our lives today. First and foremost, the use of computerised cash registers have been around for a few decades now. Trying to remember cash registers which operated without a digital display might be nearly impossible. The generation which might be able to do so has been replaced with a new generation who depend on technology to a large degree. The dependence on new technology is starting to 'show signs' of the effect of converting from our analogue counterparts. Below is an example that I recently experienced the effect of technology in a transaction at a doughnut shop."
Demonstrates the utility of exergames for teaching and learning. "Our goal is to design a math game for children aged between 8 and 12. Our focus in basic operations: adding, subtracting, dividing and multiplying. Players must gather a given number of objects in order to properly complete mathematical operations while at the same time avoiding or destroying other objects that cause him to lose energy or reduce the time given to complete the task."
"Math Quest is a role playing game that could be used as a tool to learn numbers and basic
mathematic operations. The Math Quest package consists of two main modules; learning and game modules
that can be executed separately. The use of the learning module as a tool in learning will allow for a highly
individualized and interactive environment. This paper presents the design of the learning module for
numbers and their mathematics operation. Due to its interactive and stimulating nature, the module is suitable
for school children age 9 to 12 years old to learn the subject. The development takes into consideration of
constructivism learning theories where learning is based on students' active participation in problem solving
and critical thinking regarding activity that they are involved in. The framework for each of module is as
follows: objectives, concept, examples, exercises, quizzes. A heuristic evaluation on the design was
conducted and positive feedback was obtained."
Abstract: "The principal aim of this study is to find the weaknesses of secondary school students at geometry questions of measures ,
angles and shapes , transformations and construction and 3-D shapes. The year 7 curriculum contains 4 geometry topics out
of 17 mathematics topics. In addition to this , this study aims to find out the mistakes, 28 , 7th grade students made in the last
4 exams including two midterms and two final exams. To collect data, students were tested on two midterms and two final
exams using open-ended questions on geometry to analyze their problem solving skills and to test how much they acquired
during the year.Frequency tables were used in data analysis. To fulfill this aim in the first midterm exam the subject measures
were tested. In the first final exam which followed the first midterm exam in addition to measures and angles shapes skills
were also tested. Following these tests , in the second midterm we tested the students on transformation and construction. A
descriptive methodology and student interview were used in the study to analyze and interpret the results. The results from
this study revealed that 7th grade secondary school students have a number of misconceptions, lack of background
knowledge, reasoning and basic operation mistakes at the topics mentioned above."
